GIVE US THE BACKGROUND - WHEN AND WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO OPEN A RECORD SHOP?

In 2016, Sound Records started with the dream to re-ignite the Isle of Man music scene and become the place for music lovers far and wide. The Island had always had a booming live music scene but had been without a record store for almost 20 years!Starting out with pop up shops and funky market stalls, we grew in popularity and made many friends and loyal customers, who are still with us today.This amazing support combined with a lot hard work led us to open our little basement shop on Record Store Day 2018, a real dream come true!Offering both new and used vinyl records spanning across all genres, we are a gem in the middle of the Irish Sea for finding the records you’ve been longing for!Always involved in the Manx music community, since 2018 we’ve been organising gigs and events with local bands and musicians: from Compton Vaults, to The British and even in our own little basement shop!We became an official ambassador of Record Store Day in 2019 and now have access to a huge amount of special releases and independent record store offers. Our customer base has spread greatly since we started this journey, making friends with customers from all over. As a company we are driven to build a connected community through music, whether that be in the shop, one of our live music events, a festival stage or this very website.
